High Intensity Workouts Can Cause High Cortisol Levels

Not all exercises are created to help every individual finding exercises that help with PCOS is crucial for weight loss. We all know what works for some may not work for others.

For example doing 15 minute ab exercises has never helped me instead it would cause a lot of inflammation and bloating in my mid section after an ab day session. I think a lot of people have issues like this where running doesn’t help them lose or gain a ton of weight. Or lifting weights makes them bulky but not tone. Its because our bodies are so unique.

Know Your Body

I know for my body if I didn’t lose weight before building a lot of muscle I would get very bulky and not see any result. So I chose to focus on my nutrition and to do low impact workouts such as long walks, Pilates, or yoga and really giving my body the time to adjust to movement and building strength at a slower pace.

However I did notice once I lost some weight and add in running my body responded with less stress because it was used to consistent physical activity. I found Exercises That Help With PCOS by trying new activity’s that I actually enjoyed because I stuck with it then. Going to fast too soon will stress the body and raise cortisol levels so it is important to ease in rather then jump in head first as we all do.

Why Is this Important?

This in turn caused less inflammation in the body and allowed for sustainability when working out instead of the usually high intensity workouts and then an all stop. Movement is better than no movement.

When we over do our exercises without having done them in awhile or at all that puts stress on our body. This in turn causes high cortisol which is a PCOS girls biggest enemy. We want balanced cortisol levels

Wall Pilates Is It Worth It?

Wall Pilates is going strong right now with the go to workout for Pilates. This is a great low intensity exercise that builds on your body strength and burns a good amount of calories. Because this is a low intensity exercise regimen it does not increase or flare up cortisol levels.

In turn does not create stress in the body causing inflammation and unhealthy cravings. Instead this does what it should speeds up your metabolism and decreases inflammation in the body. Pilates is great for weight loss, toning, building muscle, and is a great way for beginners to jump in to a routine without the intensity of it.
