PCOS and Our Mental Health

What holistic supplements and everyday spices can help improve our mental health with hormone disorders? When our mental health takes a toll everything around us is harder and more complicated we get sucked into cycle of doom and gloom. With PCOS or many other forms of hormone disorders our body is at a constant high and low. This can make a variety of tasks hard such as dating, marriage, friendships, family, work life, and our every day task.

This is due to excess amounts of androgen hormones such as testosterone or lack of progesterone. High cortisol levels can reek havoc on our mind. This causes brain fog, irritability, depression, and anxiety. Do not let anyone fool you this can be debilitating for you.

There have been so many times in my life when I confide in someone and say I’m just really feeling bad about this or I can control my eating because it makes me feel happier. Or even I don’t mean to get moody but once something upsets me it marinates in my head and it feels out of my control. The responses usually go a little something like: Well don’t think about it; or well snap out of it; you do it to yourself; be more positive. Well it doesn’t really work that way with our emotions. Our hormones are the conductor of our emotions so how can we help navigate these emotions and have a happy conductor? Well we can fuel our bodies with great ingredients. Think of it this way some of us invest so much time into helping others we forget about ourselves, some of us love skin care, or make up, food (which is okay), even hobbies that don’t include anything related to those.

Though what are we fueling ourselves for the inside? Do we need to constrict no we definitely do not need to do that. We find ingredients that nourishes our bodies in a positive way by also satisfying our minds. Here are some great spices and supplements to add into your life to give those hormones a boost. I like to also add the you can consume most of these through natural sources though cats claw, and lions mane are better in supplement form due to how hard they are to find in North America and prepare for consumption. Drop a comment below and share with friends if you found this helpful or have questions !

Cats Claw (Wood Vine South America)- Can help with inflammation throughout the body. ; Magnesium-(Natural Sources pumpkin seeds, nuts, leafy greens, and bananas) Magnesium is a great added supplement to a already nourished diet. It can help regulate anxiety, reduce nervousness, insomnia, and heart palpitations. ; Marshmallow Root (Natural Source Marshmallow Plant root, leaves, and flowers are edible)- Marshmallow Root can reduce stress and moods swings due to a natural antispasmodic effect ; Lions Mane (Natural Source Lions Mane Mushroom)- Can help with depression and anxiety. Cordyceps help our hormones and support our adrenal glands which if you read the article is a huge hinderance for hormones if unbalanced. Cinnamon, Turmeric, Cumin and Ginger– Cumin seeds can act like estrogen and help balance hormones, and bonus your blood sugar while turmeric can help liver function which in turn can help moderate hormone imbalances. Cinnamon has a natural chemical called cinnamaldehyde and this increase progesterone while also decreasing testosterones. Lastly ginger helps balance our hormones by lower testosterone, and is an anti inflammatory spice that can bring balance to our hormones

We have been seeing Happy Hormones all over the Internet so I gave them a shot. This is my opinion on them…

One of the ingredients myo-inositol is involved in the intracellular transmission of insulins metabolic signal and these are also important for oxidative use of glucose and its storage as glycogen . We know PCOS types can irregulate your glucose levels leaving you with highs and lows similar to a diabetic. In short this ingredient helps your body absorb, and metabolize glucose better this aides in weight loss and helping to curb those carb and sugar cravings. Our next ingredient goes hand in hand with our first DCI is beneficial for ovulation, regulating periods in PCOS girlies by helping insulin. We have been over omegas, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D benefits for PCOS woman.

So lets quickly go through those. Each of these helps in combination to regulate periods, balance insulin sensitivity, and control blood pressure levels. Each of these are crucial to help with your insulin resistance this is the big battle regarding PCOS and all the symptoms and health issues that come with PCOS. I think this product has great reviews, clean ingredients and is a great source to use while on your hormone journey.

I want to say though this is not a diet pill, this is not a fix all this is a door opening to aide in what you are already working towards on your journey. If we do not have all the pieces to the puzzle we cannot regulate and put PCOS in remission. Diet, exercise, nutrition counseling on food triggers coping mechanisms, relationships with food, education on the right foods to fuel each of our bodies is crucial for weight loss, weight management, PCOS remission and overall health and wellness.

Once I started taking these consistently they helped with my mood as far as balancing and not so many highs and lows. They also helped with regulating my cycle less cyst flare ups and my energy has been much better. These did seem to help with some weight loss but I also pair this with a balanced diet and working out regularly. This product took about two weeks to start really feeling and seeing results regarding common PCOS symptoms but it is a good multivitamin to have in your cabinet instead of having to order these supplements separately and calculate how much of each you need. I would Highly recommend these for PCOS woman who need a multivitamin targeted for woman with hormone imbalances. I will leave the link below for you to give them a try.
